Description
A quick and customizable homemade taco recipe inspired by Taco Bell, perfect for weeknights or feeding a crowd. Ready in just 25 minutes and full of fresh, flavorful ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 2 cups shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 8 small flour tortillas
- 1 cup refried beans
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it up as it browns.
- Once fully cooked, drain any excess fat and mix in the taco seasoning with a bit of water. Simmer until thickened.
- While the meat simmers, warm the tortillas either in a dry skillet or wrapped in a damp paper towel in the microwave.
- Spread a thin layer of refried beans on each tortilla.
- Add a generous scoop of the seasoned beef mixture on top.
- Sprinkle with shredded cheese, followed by diced tomatoes and lettuce.
- Finish with a spoonful of sour cream.
- Fold and serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- Use corn tortillas for a gluten-free option.
- Swap beef for ground turkey, chicken, or a plant-based protein.
- Add hot sauce, jalapeños, or chili flakes for extra spice.
- Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a lighter touch.
- Include extras like black olives, onions, or guacamole for added flavor.
