Description
These custard cookies are soft, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Made with simple pantry staples, they require minimal prep and bake up perfectly golden with a delicate crumb.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar
- 1 cup (120g) custard powder
- 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the custard powder and all-purpose flour to the mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Using your hands, shape the dough into small balls and place them onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Gently flatten each ball with a fork to create a crisscross pattern.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool completely on the baking sheet before serving.
Notes
- Do not overbake the cookies, as they will continue to firm up while cooling.
- You can replace all-purpose flour with gluten-free flour if needed.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
- The dough can be chilled for 20 minutes if it feels too soft to handle.
