Description
This Air Fryer Gluten-Free Chicken Parmesan is a healthier take on a classic Italian-American dish. Made with juicy chicken breasts coated in gluten-free breadcrumbs, topped with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella, it’s crisp on the outside and tender on the inside.
Ingredients
- 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, sliced in half lengthwise
- 1/2 cup gluten-free flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup gluten-free breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 3/4 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Cooking spray or olive oil spray
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare a breading station with three bowls: one with gluten-free flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of gluten-free breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each piece of chicken into the flour, then the egg, then the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to coat.
- Spray both sides of the breaded chicken with cooking spray.
- Place chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- After 10 minutes, spoon marinara sauce over each piece of chicken and top with shredded mozzarella.
- Return to the air fryer and cook for an additional 3–5 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- You can use store-bought or homemade marinara sauce.
- For extra crispiness, let the breaded chicken rest for a few minutes before air frying.
