Description

These air fryer honey garlic chicken bites are crispy, juicy, and coated in a sticky-sweet sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or appetizer, they’re easy to make and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized chunks
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Cooking spray
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely grated
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp cornflour mixed with 2 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken in a bowl and pour over the buttermilk. Mix to coat and allow to marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 24 hours in the fridge.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  3. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing the excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture.
  4. Spray the chicken pieces with cooking spray and place in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to do this in batches.
  5. Air fry at 200°C/390°F for 10-15 minutes, turning halfway, until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and rice vinegar. Bring to a simmer.
  7. Mix the cornflour with water to make a slurry, then add to the sauce. Simmer until thickened.
  8. Toss the cooked chicken bites in the sauce until well coated. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Marinate the chicken longer for more flavor and tenderness.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer to ensure crispiness.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
  • Can be served over rice or as an appetizer.
