Description
These air fryer honey garlic chicken bites are crispy, juicy, and coated in a sticky-sweet sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or appetizer, they’re easy to make and packed with flavor.
Ingredients
- 4 chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized chunks
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Cooking spray
- 3 tbsp honey
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 garlic cloves, finely grated
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp cornflour mixed with 2 tbsp water
Instructions
- Place the chicken in a bowl and pour over the buttermilk. Mix to coat and allow to marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 24 hours in the fridge.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing the excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture.
- Spray the chicken pieces with cooking spray and place in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to do this in batches.
- Air fry at 200°C/390°F for 10-15 minutes, turning halfway, until golden brown and cooked through.
- In a small saucepan, combine the honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and rice vinegar. Bring to a simmer.
- Mix the cornflour with water to make a slurry, then add to the sauce. Simmer until thickened.
- Toss the cooked chicken bites in the sauce until well coated. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Marinate the chicken longer for more flavor and tenderness.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer to ensure crispiness.
- Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
- Can be served over rice or as an appetizer.
