Description

These Homemade Air Fryer Mozzarella Bites are crispy on the outside, melty on the inside, and a healthier alternative to traditional fried cheese snacks. Perfect for parties or quick snacks, they’re easy to make and absolutely delicious.


Ingredients

  • 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 cup Italian-style seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Cooking spray or oil for air fryer
  • Optional: marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Cut each mozzarella stick into thirds to make bite-sized pieces.
  2. Place the flour in a shallow bowl.
  3. In a second bowl, whisk the eggs with water until well combined.
  4. In a third bowl, mix breadcrumbs with Parmesan cheese.
  5. Coat each mozzarella piece in flour, then dip into the egg mixture, and then coat in the breadcrumb mixture.
  6. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating one more time for each piece (double breading helps keep the cheese inside when cooking).
  7. Place the coated mozzarella bites on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  8. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  9. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or lightly oil it to prevent sticking.
  10. Place the frozen mozzarella bites in the basket in a single layer without overcrowding.
  11. Air fry for 5 to 7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Watch closely to avoid over-melting.
  12. Serve immediately with marinara sauce or your favorite dip.
