Description

This Air Fryer Teriyaki Chicken is a flavorful and healthy dish that’s easy to prepare. Juicy chicken pieces are marinated in a homemade teriyaki sauce and air fried to perfection, making it a great option for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 500 gm chicken thighs or breasts (boneless, cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 spring onions chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp cornflour (optional, for thickening sauce)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 1 tbsp honey (or brown sugar)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp ginger (grated)
  • 1 tsp garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, and pepper to make the teriyaki marinade.
  2. Marinate the chicken pieces in the sauce for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the air fryer at 180°C (356°F) for 5 minutes.
  4. Place the marinated chicken pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  5. Air fry at 180°C (356°F) for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through until cooked and slightly charred.
  6. While the chicken is cooking, pour the leftover marinade into a pan and bring it to a boil.
  7. Optional: Mix 1 tbsp cornflour with 2 tbsp water and add to the sauce to thicken it.
  8. Once the chicken is done, toss it in the thickened sauce to coat evenly.
  9. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions before serving.

Notes

  • You can use chicken breast or thighs, but thighs stay juicier.
  • Adjust sweetness and saltiness of the marinade to your taste.
  • Always boil leftover marinade before using it as a sauce.
  • Serve with steamed rice or stir-fried veggies for a complete meal.
