Description

Apple Fritter Bread brings all the comforting flavors of apple fritters in a loaf form. With cinnamon-sugar spiced bread, sweet apples, and a rich glaze, this bread is perfect for a cozy breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

Ingredients

  • Nonstick cooking spray (for the pan)
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 apples (any kind), peeled and chopped
  • 2/3 cup + 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup + 13 tbsp milk or almond milk
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Toss the chopped apples in 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and remaining sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Spread half of the batter in the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar over it, followed by half of the apples. Repeat with the remaining batter, cinnamon-sugar, and apples.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the bread cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Mix powdered sugar with enough milk to drizzle, then drizzle the glaze over the bread.
  9. Slice and serve your Apple Fritter Bread as a delightful treat.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat individual slices in the microwave for 10-15 seconds or warm in the oven at 350°F for about 5 minutes.
  • If you want a nutty version, add chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter for extra crunch.
  • For a spicier version, add nutmeg or allspice to the cinnamon-sugar mixture for deeper flavor.
  • For a vegan version, use dairy-free butter and milk and substitute flax eggs.
  • For a pronounced apple cinnamon swirl, make a thicker cinnamon-sugar mixture and swirl it into the batter before baking.
  • You can freeze Apple Fritter Bread for up to 3 months by wrapping it tightly. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
  • If you’d like, add a streusel topping made with butter, flour, sugar, and cinnamon before baking for a crunchy texture.
  • For a bundt pan, adjust the baking time and check for doneness at 40-45 minutes.
  • If you prefer less sweetness, skip the glaze. The bread is still delicious without it.
