Description

These Apple Snickerdoodle Bars combine the chewy texture of a snickerdoodle with chunks of fresh apple and a cinnamon-sugar topping, making them a cozy and delicious fall dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 12 apples)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in eggs and vanilla extract; beat until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed.
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  8. In a small bowl, mix 1/4 cup sugar with 1 tablespoon cinnamon, then sprinkle evenly over the batter.
  9. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for best flavor contrast.
