Description

This classic Italian tiramisu is a no-bake dessert made of layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and rich mascarpone cream, finished with a dusting of cocoa powder. It’s creamy, flavorful, and perfect for special occasions or as a make-ahead treat.

Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 16 oz (450 g) mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups strong brewed coffee or espresso, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 2430 ladyfingers (savoiardi)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until pale and creamy.
  2. Add the mascarpone cheese and mix until smooth and fully incorporated.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until smooth and airy.
  5. In a shallow dish, combine the cooled coffee or espresso with the coffee liqueur (if using).
  6. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, making sure not to over-soak.
  7. Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish.
  8. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture evenly over the ladyfingers.
  9. Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers on top.
  10. Spread the remaining mascarpone mixture over the second layer.
  11. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, until set.
  12. Before serving, dust generously with unsweetened cocoa powder, slice, and serve.

Notes

  • Chill for at least 4 hours for best texture; overnight chilling enhances flavor.
  • Do not soak ladyfingers too long to prevent sogginess.
  • Coffee liqueur can be omitted for an alcohol-free version.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze tightly wrapped portions for longer storage and thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
