Description

A crispy, golden bagel grilled to perfection with a creamy center of melted cheddar and smooth cream cheese. Quick, comforting, and ready in just 15 minutes.


Ingredients

  • 1 plain Bagel
  • 1 oz / 30 g Cream Cheese (approx 2 tbsp)
  • 1/3 cup / 35 g Cheddar, grated
  • 1 knob of Butter

Instructions

  1. Halve the bagel, then gently press down around the centre of each slice to create a slight indent.
  2. Spread the cream cheese evenly over one cut side of the bagel, then top with grated cheddar. Press the cheddar lightly into the cream cheese so it sticks, then place the other half of the bagel on top.
  3. Melt a knob of butter in a pan over low-medium heat. Once melted, add the bagel and cover with a lid. Fry for 4–5 minutes until golden on the bottom.
  4. Remove the lid and carefully flip the bagel using a spatula. Replace the lid and cook for another 4–5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and gooey in the centre. Lower the heat slightly if the bagel browns too quickly.

Notes

  • Use low heat to ensure the cheese melts fully without burning the bagel.
  • You can substitute cheddar with mozzarella or a cheese blend for a different flavor.
  • Best served immediately while hot and melty.
  • Add a slice of tomato or a pinch of chili flakes for extra flavor.
