Description

Baked Crunchy Hot Honey Chicken combines crispy chicken with a spicy-sweet hot honey glaze for a flavorful and healthier alternative to fried chicken.

Ingredients

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts

1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

2 large eggs

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/2 cup hot honey (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. In another shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs. In a third bowl, place the flour.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, dip it into the egg, then coat it with the breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to ensure it sticks.
  5. Place the coated chicken breasts on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle the olive oil over the chicken for extra crispiness.
  6. Bake the chicken for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through.
  7. While the chicken is baking, heat the hot honey in a small saucepan over low heat until warm.
  8. Once the chicken is done, remove it from the oven and drizzle the warm hot honey over the top before serving.

Notes

  1. For extra crispiness, use Panko breadcrumbs or add cornstarch to the flour mixture.
  2. You can make your own hot honey by mixing regular honey with hot sauce or chili flakes.
  3. This recipe can be made ahead of time by breading the chicken and refrigerating it up to 24 hours before baking.
  4. For a spicier kick, add more hot sauce or chili flakes to the honey or the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. If using frozen chicken breasts, ensure they are thawed and cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
