Description

This baked lemon garlic cod with butter sauce is a light, flavorful seafood dish featuring tender, flaky cod infused with fresh lemon and garlic. Finished with a rich butter sauce, it’s perfect for an easy weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

  • 4 cod fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lemon, zested and juiced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Lemon slices, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish with olive oil.
  2. Pat the cod fillets dry with paper towels and place them in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  4. Pour the butter mixture evenly over the cod fillets.
  5. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Remove from the oven and spoon some of the pan sauce over the top.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon slices before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the butter sauce.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables, rice, or roasted potatoes.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • You can substitute cod with haddock or halibut if desired.
