Description

A creamy, cheesy baked shrimp casserole with a golden breadcrumb topping — perfect for a comforting and flavorful weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3/4 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • For the topping:
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter and minced garlic.
  3. Place the shrimp in the greased baking dish, arranging them in an even layer.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, heavy cream, dried thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour the cream mixture over the shrimp in the baking dish, making sure they are covered.
  6. Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the shrimp and cream mixture.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with the melted butter until well coated.
  8. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the top of the casserole.
  9. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the sauce is bubbly.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • Use fresh or frozen (thawed) shrimp for best results.
  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the cream mixture.
  • You can substitute the cheddar with mozzarella for a different flavor profile.
