Description

Moist and tender banana bread brownies topped with a rich brown butter frosting. These bars combine the flavor of classic banana bread with the soft, chewy texture of brownies for an easy and delicious dessert.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 3 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and lightly flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together 1/2 cup butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Mix in sour cream, vanilla extract, and mashed bananas until well combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. While the brownies bake, melt 1/2 cup butter in a saucepan over medium heat and cook until it turns golden brown.
  10. Remove browned butter from heat and whisk in powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  11. Spread the frosting over the warm brownies. Allow to cool completely before slicing and serving.
