Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 medium ripe banana, mashed (about 1/2 cup)
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch (20×20 cm) baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until well combined.
- Add in the egg and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
- Stir in the mashed banana until fully incorporated.
- Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a rubber spatula or wooden spoon until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top looks set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before slicing and serving.
