Description

Bang Bang Chicken is a crispy and juicy chicken dish tossed in a creamy, sweet, and spicy sauce. Inspired by Asian-American fusion, it’s perfect as an appetizer or main meal served over rice or in wraps.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch or flour, for coating
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 12 tbsp sriracha or hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Dip each chicken piece into beaten egg, then coat thoroughly with cornstarch or flour.
  2. Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat.
  3. Fry the coated chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 5–6 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey (if using) until smooth.
  5. Toss the crispy chicken in the prepared sauce until evenly coated.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the spice level by increasing or decreasing the sriracha.
  • For a lighter version, use Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise.
  • To keep chicken crispy, toss in sauce just before serving.
  • Can be served over rice, in lettuce wraps, or with veggies for a full meal.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in oven or air fryer for best texture.
