Description
Bang Bang Chicken is a crispy and juicy chicken dish tossed in a creamy, sweet, and spicy sauce. Inspired by Asian-American fusion, it’s perfect as an appetizer or main meal served over rice or in wraps.
Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch or flour, for coating
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
- 1–2 tbsp sriracha or hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 tbsp honey (optional)
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Dip each chicken piece into beaten egg, then coat thoroughly with cornstarch or flour.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat.
- Fry the coated chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 5–6 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey (if using) until smooth.
- Toss the crispy chicken in the prepared sauce until evenly coated.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- Adjust the spice level by increasing or decreasing the sriracha.
- For a lighter version, use Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise.
- To keep chicken crispy, toss in sauce just before serving.
- Can be served over rice, in lettuce wraps, or with veggies for a full meal.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in oven or air fryer for best texture.
