Description

A classic and creamy Beef Stroganoff recipe made with tender strips of beef, mushrooms, and onions in a rich sour cream sauce, served over egg noodles.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin, cut into 1/2-inch strips
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 (6 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup water (optional)
  • 8 ounces egg noodles

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook egg noodles according to package directions, then drain and set aside.
  2. Season beef strips with salt and pepper.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté onions, garlic, and mushrooms until onions are soft and translucent.
  4. Add the beef strips and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in the condensed cream of mushroom soup and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer over low heat for 10 minutes. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of water to reach the desired consistency.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the sour cream until well blended.
  7. Serve over cooked egg noodles.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, use fresh mushrooms instead of canned.
  • Do not boil the sauce after adding sour cream to prevent curdling.
  • Can be served with rice or mashed potatoes instead of noodles.
