Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 2 cups marinara or pasta sauce
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened.
- Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add ground beef, salt, and pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through. Drain excess grease if needed.
- Stir in marinara sauce, tomato sauce, and Italian seasoning.
- Add uncooked elbow macaroni and water. Stir well to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 12–15 minutes or until pasta is cooked, stirring occasionally.
- If using cheese, stir it in at the end until melted and combined.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
- Add more cheese on top and broil for a few minutes for a baked finish.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- Use your favorite pasta shape if you don’t have elbow macaroni.
