Description

A quick and comforting classic, this homemade Beefaroni is made with ground beef, pasta, tomato sauce, and seasonings—perfect for an easy weeknight meal the whole family will love.


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups marinara or pasta sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened.
  2. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef, salt, and pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through. Drain excess grease if needed.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce, tomato sauce, and Italian seasoning.
  5. Add uncooked elbow macaroni and water. Stir well to combine.
  6. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 12–15 minutes or until pasta is cooked, stirring occasionally.
  7. If using cheese, stir it in at the end until melted and combined.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • Add more cheese on top and broil for a few minutes for a baked finish.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Use your favorite pasta shape if you don’t have elbow macaroni.
