Ingredients
- 12–14 cups French bread, cubed
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups 2% milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup sliced strawberries
- 1/2 cup blueberries
- 1–2 tablespoons powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
- Maple syrup (for serving)
Instructions
- Grease a 9″x13″ casserole dish with vegetable oil or butter.
- Place the cubed French bread into the casserole dish, filling it about three-quarters full.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and brown sugar until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are coated.
- Distribute the sliced strawberries and blueberries over the top of the casserole.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove the plastic wrap and bake the casserole for 35-50 minutes, checking at the 35-minute mark. The casserole is done when the top is slightly crispy and the center is set.
- If desired, sprinkle powdered sugar over the top before serving.
- Serve warm with maple syrup.
