Description
A creamy, savory crock pot ground turkey cheese dip made with seasoned turkey, melted cheese, and flavorful spices. Perfect for parties, game days, or an easy appetizer served with chips or veggies.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (10 oz) can diced tomatoes with green chilies, drained
- 8 oz cream cheese, cubed
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
- Add ground turkey and cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in garlic, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Transfer the cooked turkey mixture to a crock pot.
- Add diced tomatoes, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, and milk to the crock pot.
- Cover and cook on low for 2–3 hours or until cheeses are fully melted, stirring occasionally.
- Stir well before serving and garnish with fresh cilantro if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
- For a spicier dip, add diced jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- You can substitute ground chicken for turkey if preferred.
- If the dip is too thick, add a splash of milk to reach desired consistency.
- Keep warm in the crock pot on the “warm” setting during serving.
