Description

This Cajun Sausage Pasta is a creamy, spicy, and satisfying one-pot dish made with smoked sausage, pasta, Cajun seasoning, and cream. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner with bold flavors and minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 14 ounces smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces penne pasta (or any short pasta)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, melt butter. Add diced onion and bell pepper and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Stir and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream, stir to combine.
  5. Add pasta and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 12-15 minutes or until pasta is tender, stirring occasionally.
  6. Stir in cooked sausage and Parmesan cheese. Cook for 1-2 minutes more until cheese is melted and everything is well combined.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve hot.

Notes

  • Adjust Cajun seasoning to your spice preference.
  • Use turkey or chicken sausage for a lighter option.
  • Can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
