Description

Biscuits and Sausage Gravy Breakfast Pizza combines the comfort of a southern breakfast with the fun twist of a pizza. It’s topped with sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, cheese, and crispy sausage on fluffy biscuit dough, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

1 can refrigerated biscuit dough

1 pound breakfast sausage

2 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups whole milk

Salt and pepper to taste

4 large eggs, scrambled

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the refrigerated biscuit dough on a greased pizza pan or baking sheet, pressing it out to form a pizza crust.
  3. Bake the biscuit dough for about 8-10 minutes, until golden brown.
  4. While the dough is baking, cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned and crumbled, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the sausage and set it aside.
  5. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour to make a roux, cooking for about 1-2 minutes until it’s slightly golden.
  6. Slowly add the milk to the roux, stirring continuously until the gravy thickens, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Remove the gravy from the heat and fold in the cooked sausage.
  8. Once the biscuit dough is baked, remove it from the oven and spread the sausage gravy evenly over the pizza crust.
  9. Top the gravy with scrambled eggs, followed by a generous sprinkle of cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
  10. Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Slice, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

  1. Vegetarian Version: Skip the sausage and replace with sautéed vegetables like mushrooms, spinach, and bell peppers.
  2. Spicy Version: Add cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the sausage gravy for extra heat.
  3. Cheese Variety: Try different cheeses like pepper jack, gouda, or sharp blue cheese.
  4. Gluten-Free: Use gluten-free biscuit dough to make this recipe gluten-free.
