Description

This blueberry lilac crumble is a fragrant, fruit-forward dessert with juicy blueberries and a crisp buttery topping. Floral lilac adds a delicate spring flavor that makes it feel extra special.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1/4 cup lilac blossoms, gently cleaned and stems removed
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a small baking dish or pie plate.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the blueberries, lilac blossoms, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Toss gently, then spread the mixture evenly in the prepared dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the melted butter and mix until crumbly.
  4. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the blueberry mixture.
  5. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until the fruit is bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
  6. Let the crumble cool for at least 10 minutes before serving warm on its own or with whipped cream or ice cream.
