Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh blueberries
- 1/4 cup lilac blossoms, gently cleaned and stems removed
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a small baking dish or pie plate.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the blueberries, lilac blossoms, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Toss gently, then spread the mixture evenly in the prepared dish.
- In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the melted butter and mix until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the blueberry mixture.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until the fruit is bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
- Let the crumble cool for at least 10 minutes before serving warm on its own or with whipped cream or ice cream.
Notes
- Use culinary lilac blossoms only, and avoid any flowers that may have been treated with chemicals.
- Frozen blueberries can be used; add an extra teaspoon of cornstarch if needed.
