These Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots are a quick and easy side dish featuring tender carrots coated in a buttery brown sugar glaze with a touch of garlic, perfect for holiday meals or everyday dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (500g) carrots, peeled and cut into batons
- 1/4 cup (60g) brown sugar, packed
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder (or 1 small garlic clove, finely minced)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp water
Instructions
- Add carrots, butter, sugar, garlic, salt, pepper, and water to a skillet or saucepan over medium-high heat.
- Stir to coat the carrots and bring to a simmer.
- Cover with a lid and cook for 5 minutes.
- Remove the lid and continue cooking for another 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the carrots are tender and the glaze thickens.
- If the glaze thickens too much before the carrots are tender, add a splash of water and continue cooking.
- Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- Use baby carrots or pre-cut carrots for convenience.
- Adjust the sugar to taste if you prefer less sweetness.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated in a skillet or microwave.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for a holiday twist.
