Burger bowls are a fresh, bunless take on classic cheeseburgers, combining seasoned ground beef with crisp lettuce, vegetables, cheese, and a tangy burger sauce. They deliver all the flavors of a burger in a satisfying, low-carb style bowl.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 4 cups chopped romaine lettuce
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1/2 cup sliced red onion
- 1/2 cup sliced pickles
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp pickle juice
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and pickle juice to make the burger sauce. Set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked.
- Season the beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir well and cook for another 1–2 minutes.
- Divide the chopped romaine lettuce among serving bowls.
- Top each bowl with cooked ground beef, cherry tomatoes, red onion, pickles, shredded cheddar cheese, and sliced avocado.
- Drizzle the prepared burger sauce over each bowl and serve immediately.
Notes
- Ground turkey or chicken can be substituted for beef for a lighter option.
- Add extra toppings like sautéed mushrooms, jalapeños, or crispy onions for more flavor.
- The burger sauce can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Serve immediately after assembling to keep the lettuce crisp.
