Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Sprinkles or colored sugar, for decorating (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract, and mix until combined.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
- Place dough into a cookie press fitted with your desired shape disk.
- Press cookies onto ungreased or parchment-lined baking sheets.
- Decorate with sprinkles or colored sugar if desired.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes or until edges are just lightly golden.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Ensure butter is fully softened for easier mixing.
- Do not chill the dough or it will be too firm for the cookie press.
- Use ungreased baking sheets for best results if not using parchment.
- Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
