Ingredients
- 1 pound pizza dough, homemade or store-bought
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni or cooked sausage (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil, for brushing
- Marinara sauce, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 10- to 12-inch circle.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, beaten egg, salt, pepper, oregano, and garlic powder. Stir until well mixed.
- Spoon the cheese filling onto one half of the dough, leaving a border around the edge. Add pepperoni or sausage, if using.

- Transfer the calzone to the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top with olive oil and cut a few small slits to vent steam.
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Serve with warm marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
