Description

A rich and indulgent French toast topped with buttery caramelized bananas, perfect for a special breakfast or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 8 slices brioche or thick-cut bread
  • 2 tbsp butter (for cooking toast)
  • 3 bananas, sliced
  • 3 tbsp butter (for caramelized bananas)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  2. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, coating well.
  3. Heat 2 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium heat and cook bread slices 2–3 minutes per side until golden.
  4. In another skillet, melt 3 tbsp butter and add banana slices.
  5. Sprinkle brown sugar, maple syrup, and a pinch of salt over bananas.
  6. Cook for 3–4 minutes until bananas are soft and caramelized.
  7. Serve French toast topped generously with caramelized bananas.

Notes

  • Brioche or challah creates the best texture.
  • Add a splash of rum for a foster-style topping.
  • Serve with whipped cream or extra maple syrup for added sweetness.
