Description
A rich and indulgent French toast topped with buttery caramelized bananas, perfect for a special breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 8 slices brioche or thick-cut bread
- 2 tbsp butter (for cooking toast)
- 3 bananas, sliced
- 3 tbsp butter (for caramelized bananas)
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon.
- Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, coating well.
- Heat 2 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium heat and cook bread slices 2–3 minutes per side until golden.
- In another skillet, melt 3 tbsp butter and add banana slices.
- Sprinkle brown sugar, maple syrup, and a pinch of salt over bananas.
- Cook for 3–4 minutes until bananas are soft and caramelized.
- Serve French toast topped generously with caramelized bananas.
Notes
- Brioche or challah creates the best texture.
- Add a splash of rum for a foster-style topping.
- Serve with whipped cream or extra maple syrup for added sweetness.
