Description

A hearty, family-friendly cheeseburger and fries casserole made with seasoned ground beef, creamy sauce, melted cheese, and crispy French fries baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can condensed cheddar cheese soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 (24-28 oz) bag frozen French fries
  • Optional: chopped pickles, diced tomatoes, cooked bacon for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until beef is browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Add minced garlic, salt, pepper, ketchup, and mustard. Stir and cook for 1 minute.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together cheddar cheese soup and milk until smooth. Pour into the beef mixture and stir to combine.
  5. Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  6. Arrange frozen French fries evenly over the cheese layer.
  7. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, or until fries are golden and crispy.
  8. Sprinkle remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese over the fries and return to the oven for 5 minutes, until melted.
  9. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Add optional toppings if desired.

Notes

  • Cook fries slightly before adding for extra crispiness.
  • Ground turkey can be substituted for ground beef.
  • Add cooked bacon for a bacon cheeseburger variation.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
