2 cloves garlic, minced

1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
-
1 cup milk
-
2 tbsp butter
-
2 tbsp all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt
-
½ tsp black pepper
-
½ tsp paprika (optional)
-
Chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
-
Add diced onions and garlic; sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat.
-
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
-
Gradually whisk in milk, cooking until the sauce thickens. Stir in salt, pepper, and paprika.
-
In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half the sliced potatoes, then half the beef mixture, and half the cheese sauce. Repeat layers.
-
Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
-
Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes or until potatoes are tender and cheese is golden.
-
Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
Notes
-
You can swap cheddar with Monterey Jack or mozzarella for a different cheese flavor.
-
For quicker prep, use pre-sliced or frozen potatoes.
-
Add vegetables like corn, green beans, or bell peppers for a more complete meal.
