Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
2 cups beef broth
2 cups uncooked pasta (penne, rotini, or elbow macaroni work well)
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent, about 2 minutes.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Add the uncooked pasta to the skillet and stir to combine. Cover the skillet, reduce the heat to low, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the pasta is tender and the sauce has thickened. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Once the pasta is cooked, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Cover the skillet again and let the cheese melt for 2-3 minutes.
