Description

Cheesy pull apart bread made with a crusty loaf stuffed with garlic butter, mozzarella, and parmesan, then baked until golden and melty. A warm, shareable appetizer with crispy edges and gooey cheese in every bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 large round loaf of crusty bread (sourdough or Italian)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh parsley (finely chopped)
  • Extra parsley for garnish
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  2. Place the loaf on a cutting board. Using a sharp bread knife, make diagonal cuts about 1 inch apart across the top of the bread, being careful not to cut all the way through. Rotate the loaf and repeat in the opposite direction to create a crosshatch pattern.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  4. Gently pull apart the bread sections and drizzle the garlic butter mixture into the cracks, ensuring it seeps deep into the bread.
  5. Stuff the shredded mozzarella and grated parmesan evenly into the cuts throughout the loaf.
  6. Wrap the loaf tightly in aluminum foil and place it on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes. Carefully unwrap the foil to expose the top and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and the bread is golden.
  8. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with extra parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Sourdough or Italian bread works best because it holds the fillings without becoming soggy.
  • Add cooked bacon bits or pepperoni for a non-vegetarian variation.
  • For extra flavor, mix a little garlic powder or Italian seasoning into the butter.
  • Serve immediately while the cheese is hot and stretchy.
  • Leftovers can be wrapped in foil and reheated in the oven.
