Description
Chicken in Basil Cream Sauce is a comforting and flavorful dish featuring tender chicken breasts in a rich, creamy sauce infused with fresh basil and garlic.
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 6-7 minutes per side or until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté the garlic for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the chicken broth and bring to a simmer, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any brown bits.
- Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, and fresh basil. Simmer for another 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Return the chicken to the skillet and coat it in the basil cream sauce. Let the chicken simmer in the sauce for 2-3 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Serve the chicken with extra sauce on top and garnish with additional basil if desired.
Notes
- Add vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or sun-dried tomatoes to the sauce for extra flavor.
- For a different flavor profile, substitute basil with fresh parsley, thyme, or oregano.
- For a mild kick, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- Use shrimp or pork instead of chicken for variety.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
