Description

Chicken in Basil Cream Sauce is a comforting and flavorful dish featuring tender chicken breasts in a rich, creamy sauce infused with fresh basil and garlic.

Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt and pepper, to taste

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup chicken broth

1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 6-7 minutes per side or until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté the garlic for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the chicken broth and bring to a simmer, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any brown bits.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, and fresh basil. Simmer for another 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Return the chicken to the skillet and coat it in the basil cream sauce. Let the chicken simmer in the sauce for 2-3 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  7. Serve the chicken with extra sauce on top and garnish with additional basil if desired.

Notes

  1. Add vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or sun-dried tomatoes to the sauce for extra flavor.
  2. For a different flavor profile, substitute basil with fresh parsley, thyme, or oregano.
  3. For a mild kick, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  4. Use shrimp or pork instead of chicken for variety.
  5. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
