Description

This Chocolate Caramel Turtle Trifle is a decadent layered dessert featuring rich chocolate cake, creamy caramel pudding, whipped topping, and crunchy pecans, perfect for parties or holidays.

Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients to make it)
  • 2 boxes (3.4 oz each) instant caramel pudding mix
  • 4 cups cold milk
  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup chocolate syrup
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • Optional: additional pecans and drizzles for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chocolate cake according to the package directions. Let it cool completely, then cut into small cubes.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the caramel pudding mixes and cold milk for about 2 minutes until thickened. Refrigerate for 5 minutes to set.
  3. In a large trifle bowl or glass dish, start layering with half of the chocolate cake cubes.
  4. Spread half of the caramel pudding over the cake.
  5. Add a layer of half the whipped topping.
  6. Sprinkle half of the chopped pecans over the whipped topping.
  7. Drizzle with chocolate syrup and caramel sauce.
  8. Repeat the layers with remaining ingredients: cake, pudding, whipped topping, pecans, and drizzles.
  9. Top with extra pecans and decorative drizzles if desired.
  10. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving for best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Make sure cake is fully cooled before layering to avoid melting the whipped topping.
  • You can substitute homemade cake or pudding if preferred.
  • This dessert can be made a day in advance and stored in the fridge.
  • Use sugar-free pudding and light whipped topping for a lower-calorie version.
