With simple ingredients and a quick prep time, these chocolate donuts are sure to satisfy any chocolate craving!

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1/2 cup whole milk

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup boiling water

For the glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 tablespoons milk

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  • In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.

  • Carefully add the boiling water to the batter and stir until smooth. The batter will be thin.

  • Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a donut comes out clean.

  • Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

  • To make the glaze, combine the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Whisk until smooth.

  • Dip each cooled donut into the glaze, allowing any excess to drip off.

  • Let the glaze set for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  1. Store donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days or freeze for up to 1 month.
  2. Reheat donuts in the microwave or oven for a warm, fresh treat.
  3. If you prefer mini donuts, use a mini donut pan and adjust the baking time to 7-9 minutes.
