Ingredients
- 4 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons peppermint extract (to taste)
- 2 cups dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon butter or shortening (optional, for thinning chocolate)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine confectioners’ sugar and sweetened condensed milk until a thick dough forms.
- Add peppermint extract and mix until well incorporated. Adjust mint flavor to taste.
- Roll the mixture into small balls and flatten slightly to form discs.
- Place the discs on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
- Melt the chocolate (with butter or shortening if using) in a microwave or double boiler until smooth.
- Dip each mint disc into the melted chocolate to coat completely, then return to the tray.
- Refrigerate again until the chocolate is fully set and the creams are firm.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Notes
- Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor and finish.
- Add green food coloring to the filling for a festive touch.
- For a vegan version, use dairy-free condensed milk and vegan chocolate.
- To prevent chocolate from seizing, ensure no water contacts the chocolate while melting.
