Description

Delightfully crispy and naturally sweet banana chips, lightly coated with cinnamon and sugar and cooked in an air fryer for a healthier, crunchier snack that’s ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

2 ripe but firm bananas

1 tbsp coconut oil or melted butter

1 tbsp granulated sugar (or coconut sugar)

½ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3–5 minutes.
  2. Peel bananas and slice into even rounds approximately ⅛ inch thick.
  3. In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Coat banana slices with melted oil or butter, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over them; toss to evenly coat.
  5. Arrange slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket (avoid overlapping).
  6. Air-fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway; watch closely to prevent burning.
  7. Once golden and crisp, transfer to a wire rack to cool—they’ll crisp further as they cool.

Notes

  1. Spiced-Sweet: Add a pinch of nutmeg or pumpkin spice.
  2. Spicy-Sweet: Mix in cayenne or chili powder for heat.
  3. Savory Twist: Skip sugar; use sea salt and paprika.
  4. Chocolate Drizzle: Drizzle melted dark chocolate over cooled chips.
  5. Nutty Crunch: Toss with chopped nuts or coconut before frying.
  6. Low-Sugar: Substitute sugar with stevia or omit sugar completely.
  7. Storage: Store cooled chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2–3 days.
  8. Reheating: Refresh crispiness by air-frying at 300°F (150°C) for 1–2 minutes.
  9. Freezing: Not recommended; they can lose crispiness when thawed.
