Description
Delightfully crispy and naturally sweet banana chips, lightly coated with cinnamon and sugar and cooked in an air fryer for a healthier, crunchier snack that’s ready in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
2 ripe but firm bananas
1 tbsp coconut oil or melted butter
1 tbsp granulated sugar (or coconut sugar)
½ tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3–5 minutes.
- Peel bananas and slice into even rounds approximately ⅛ inch thick.
- In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon.
- Coat banana slices with melted oil or butter, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over them; toss to evenly coat.
- Arrange slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket (avoid overlapping).
- Air-fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway; watch closely to prevent burning.
- Once golden and crisp, transfer to a wire rack to cool—they’ll crisp further as they cool.
Notes
- Spiced-Sweet: Add a pinch of nutmeg or pumpkin spice.
- Spicy-Sweet: Mix in cayenne or chili powder for heat.
- Savory Twist: Skip sugar; use sea salt and paprika.
- Chocolate Drizzle: Drizzle melted dark chocolate over cooled chips.
- Nutty Crunch: Toss with chopped nuts or coconut before frying.
- Low-Sugar: Substitute sugar with stevia or omit sugar completely.
- Storage: Store cooled chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2–3 days.
- Reheating: Refresh crispiness by air-frying at 300°F (150°C) for 1–2 minutes.
- Freezing: Not recommended; they can lose crispiness when thawed.
