Description
This Cinnamon Apple French Toast Bake is a warm and comforting breakfast casserole made with hearty bread, apples, eggs, milk, and a sweet cinnamon topping. Perfect for holidays or weekend brunch, it can be prepped the night before and baked fresh in the morning.
Ingredients
- 8 cups day-old crusty bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 large apples, peeled and diced
- 8 large Organic Valley Eggs
- 2 1/4 cups Organic Valley Whole Milk
- 1/2 cup Organic Valley Half & Half
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp Organic Valley Unsalted Butter, melted
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon (for topping)
- Maple syrup, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and add the cubed bread and diced apples evenly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, half & half, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and apples. Press down gently to soak all the bread.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350°F. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Spoon the topping evenly over the soaked bread mixture.
- Bake uncovered for 45-55 minutes or until the top is golden and the center is set.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Drizzle with maple syrup if desired.
