Description

This Cinnamon Apple French Toast Bake is a warm and comforting breakfast casserole made with hearty bread, apples, eggs, milk, and a sweet cinnamon topping. Perfect for holidays or weekend brunch, it can be prepped the night before and baked fresh in the morning.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups day-old crusty bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 large apples, peeled and diced
  • 8 large Organic Valley Eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups Organic Valley Whole Milk
  • 1/2 cup Organic Valley Half & Half
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp Organic Valley Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (for topping)
  • Maple syrup, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and add the cubed bread and diced apples evenly.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, half & half, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  3. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and apples. Press down gently to soak all the bread.
  4. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  6. Spoon the topping evenly over the soaked bread mixture.
  7. Bake uncovered for 45-55 minutes or until the top is golden and the center is set.
  8. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Drizzle with maple syrup if desired.

Notes

  • Best when prepared the night before and baked fresh in the morning.
  • Use crusty or day-old bread for best texture.
  • You can substitute apples with pears or add nuts for extra crunch.
