Description

Homemade Cinnamon Apple Pop Tarts made with buttery pie crust, spiced apple filling, and topped with a cinnamon glaze. A cozy, fall-inspired treat that’s perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups diced apples (peeled and cored, about 2 medium apples)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 box refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp milk (or more as needed for glaze consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  3. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples start to soften.
  4. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water, then add to the apple mixture. Cook for another 1–2 minutes until thickened. Let cool.
  5. Unroll the pie crusts and cut each into 6 rectangles (12 total).
  6. Spoon a tablespoon of the cooled apple filling onto 6 rectangles, leaving a border.
  7. In a small bowl, beat the egg with 1 tablespoon water. Brush edges of the rectangles with egg wash.
  8. Top each filled rectangle with another crust piece. Use a fork to crimp the edges and seal.
  9. Place pop tarts on the prepared baking sheet and prick the tops with a fork to let steam escape.
  10. Bake for 20–22 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool.
  11. In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, cinnamon, and milk until smooth. Drizzle over cooled pop tarts.

Notes

  • You can use any type of baking apple like Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Fuji.
  • Let the pop tarts cool before adding glaze to prevent it from melting off.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
