Description
A rich and sweet cinnamon French toast made with brioche, coated in a warm cinnamon sugar crust and served with your favorite toppings.
Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- 4 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 6 tablespoons soft brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 6 thick slices of brioche bread
- Confectioners’ sugar for dusting
- Fresh berries, cherries, or banana slices
- Golden syrup or maple syrup
- Whipped cream
- Chopped nuts (such as hazelnuts, pecans, or walnuts)
Instructions
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract in a wide, shallow bowl.
- Place the brown sugar and cinnamon on a plate and mix well.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large frying pan over medium heat until just bubbling.
- Dip three slices of brioche into the egg mixture, coating both sides.
- Place the soaked bread into the hot pan and fry for 1–2 minutes on each side until lightly browned.
- While still in the pan, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of the cinnamon sugar over the toast, flip, and sprinkle another tablespoon. Cook for an additional minute on each side until golden.
- Transfer to a warm plate. Add the remaining butter to the pan and repeat with the remaining bread slices.
- Serve the French toast with an extra sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.
- Top with confectioners’ sugar, fresh fruit, syrup, whipped cream, and chopped nuts as desired.
Notes
- Brioche bread works best for a rich and fluffy texture, but challah or thick white bread can be used.
- Cook on medium heat to avoid burning the sugar coating.
- Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in a pan or toaster oven.
