Description

Cookie Croissants bring together the best of both worlds: the flaky, buttery texture of a croissant with the irresistible sweetness of a cookie. A perfect treat for breakfast, brunch, or as a sweet snack.

Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry dough

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into 8 triangular slices.
  3. In a bowl, mix the brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the softened butter and vanilla extract to form a thick, dough-like consistency. Stir in the chocolate chips, if desired.
  4. Spoon a dollop of the cookie dough onto the wide end of each pastry triangle.
  5. Carefully roll each triangle up into a croissant shape, making sure the cookie dough stays inside.
  6. Place the croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Beat the egg and brush the tops of the croissants with the egg wash for a golden, shiny finish.
  8. Bake the croissants for about 15–20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
  9. Let the croissants cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  1. Store leftover Cookie Croissants in an airtight container for up to 2-3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
  2. For extra crispiness, brush with more egg wash and bake a few extra minutes.
  3. Feel free to experiment with different fillings like fruit, nuts, or jam.
  4. You can freeze the uncooked croissants by assembling and freezing them on a baking sheet, then transferring to an airtight container or freezer bag.
