Description

This Copycat Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding is a creamy, dreamy dessert made with layers of vanilla wafers, fresh bananas, and a rich pudding and whipped cream mixture. It’s easy to make and tastes just like the famous treat from Magnolia Bakery in NYC.

Ingredients

  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1½ cups ice cold water
  • 1 (3.4-ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 3 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 (11-ounce) box Nilla Wafers
  • 4 cups sliced ripe bananas (about 45 bananas)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk and cold water until well combined.
  2. Add the instant pudding mix and continue whisking until the mixture is smooth and starts to thicken.
  3. Cover and refrigerate the pudding mixture for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  4. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chilled pudding mixture until fully combined and smooth.
  6. In a large trifle dish or individual cups, layer Nilla Wafers, sliced bananas, and the pudding mixture. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of pudding on top.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4–6 hours (preferably overnight) before serving to allow the flavors to meld and the wafers to soften.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm bananas to avoid mushiness.
  • Refrigerating overnight gives the best texture and flavor.
  • Layer the dessert in individual cups for easy serving and presentation.
  • Can be made up to 2 days in advance.
