Description
This Southern-style Crab Boil is a flavorful and fun seafood feast packed with crab legs, shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes all boiled in a seasoned broth. Perfect for summer gatherings or festive dinners.
Ingredients
- 4 quarts water
- 1 (3-ounce) bag of crab boil seasoning (such as Zatarain’s)
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 4 tablespoons Old Bay seasoning
- 1 lemon, quartered
- 1 large onion, peeled and quartered
- 1 head garlic, halved horizontally
- 8 small red potatoes
- 4 ears of corn, husked and halved
- 1 pound smoked sausage, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 2 pounds king crab legs
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- Butter and additional Old Bay seasoning for serving
Instructions
- Fill a large stockpot with 4 quarts of water and bring to a boil.
- Add crab boil seasoning, salt, Old Bay seasoning, lemon, onion, and garlic. Let simmer for 10 minutes to infuse the broth.
- Add potatoes and cook for 10 minutes until they begin to soften.
- Add corn and sausage to the pot. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes.
- Add crab legs and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add shrimp and cook until they are pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes.
- Drain the boil and pour the contents onto a large table covered with newspaper or parchment paper.
- Serve immediately with melted butter and extra Old Bay seasoning.

- You can customize the seafood based on availability—lobster, clams, or mussels can be added.
- Use a large outdoor burner or propane cooker for large gatherings.
