Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 7 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Granulated sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add the peppermint extract and mix until combined.
  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition until a thick dough forms.
  4. If desired, divide the dough and add food coloring to create different colored mints. Mix until color is evenly distributed.
  5. Shape the dough into small balls (about 1/2 inch) and roll them in granulated sugar.
  6. Place the mints on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Flatten each ball slightly with a fork or your thumb.
  7. Let the mints dry at room temperature for at least 4 hours or overnight until firm.
