Description

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies are a delightful treat that perfectly balance the richness of cream cheese with the sweetness of a traditional sugar cookie. These cookies are soft, tender, and a little bit tangy, making them a unique twist on the classic sugar cookie.

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

1 large egg

2 tsp vanilla extract

Extra sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together the butter and cream cheese until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the sugar and continue to beat until light and fluffy, about 3 more minutes.
  5. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Roll each ball in sugar, then place them on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
  8. Gently flatten each cookie with the bottom of a glass or your fingers.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  1. For extra flavor, try adding lemon zest or cinnamon sugar to the dough.
  2. These cookies freeze well for up to 3 months.
  3. If you’d like, top the cookies with frosting for added sweetness and decoration.
