Description

Creamy Cajun Sausage Pasta is a quick and easy one-pot meal packed with smoky sausage, bold Cajun spices, and a rich, creamy sauce—perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz smoked sausage (such as andouille or kielbasa), sliced
  • 8 oz pasta (penne, rigatoni, or preferred shape)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced sausage and cook until browned. Remove from pan and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, sauté diced onions until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute.
  3. Stir in Cajun seasoning and cook for another 30 seconds to release the spices.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Add uncooked pasta and stir to combine. Cover and cook for about 10-12 minutes, or until the pasta is al dente, stirring occasionally.
  6. Once the pasta is cooked, stir in Parmesan cheese and return the sausage to the skillet.
  7. Let everything simmer together for a few more minutes until thick and creamy.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Use any smoked sausage you like—kielbasa, andouille, or even turkey sausage.
  • Adjust the Cajun seasoning to your preferred spice level.
  • Add a splash more cream or broth if the sauce thickens too much while resting.
  • This dish is great for meal prep and holds well in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Not recommended for freezing due to the dairy content.
