This Mushroom Gruyere Pasta is a rich, savory dish combining earthy mushrooms, creamy Gruyere cheese, and perfectly cooked pasta for a comforting, gourmet meal that’s easy to make at home.
Ingredients
- 12 oz pasta (e.g., fettuccine or tagliatelle)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 shallot, minced
- 16 oz mushrooms (cremini or mixed), sliced
- 1/4 cup white wine (optional)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh thyme or parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add garlic and shallot, sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add sliced mushrooms and cook until browned and their moisture has evaporated, about 8-10 minutes.
- Deglaze the pan with white wine if using, cooking for 2 minutes until slightly reduced.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Add shredded Gruyere cheese and stir until melted and creamy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to combine thoroughly.
- Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley before serving.
Notes
- You can use any type of mushrooms you like – a mix adds more depth of flavor.
- Vegetable broth can replace wine for a non-alcoholic option.
- For extra richness, add a splash more cream or butter at the end.
