Description

These Crinkly Crackly Butter Toffee Sugar Cookies are the ultimate combination of crunchy, buttery goodness and sweet toffee indulgence. With a unique crinkly texture and a melt-in-your-mouth flavor, these cookies are perfect for any occasion. Easy to make, they offer a delightful treat that everyone will love.

Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup toffee bits or chopped toffee bars

Extra granulated sugar for rolling the cookies

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until creamy, about 2 minutes.

  • Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Avoid overmixing.

  • Stir in the toffee bits until evenly distributed.

  • Roll tablespoon-sized portions into balls and roll them in extra sugar.

  • Place dough balls on the baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart. Press down slightly to help them spread.

  • Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are golden and the surface is crinkly and crackled.

  • Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  1. You can substitute margarine for butter, but the taste and texture will vary.
  2. Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking if it’s too warm to avoid spreading too much.
  3. For extra crunch, add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts.
