Description
A sweet and savory crispy blueberry grilled cheese made with juicy blueberries, creamy melted cheese, and golden buttery toasted bread.
Ingredients
- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 4 slices mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
- In a small bowl, gently mash half of the blueberries and mix them with the honey.
- Spread cream cheese evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place mozzarella slices over the cream cheese on two slices of bread.
- Spoon the mashed blueberry mixture evenly over the cheese, then scatter the remaining whole blueberries on top.
- Top with the remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.
- Spread softened butter on the outside of each sandwich.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook sandwiches for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from skillet, let cool slightly, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
- Substitute brie or goat cheese for mozzarella for a richer flavor.
- Cook over medium-low heat to avoid burning the bread before the cheese melts.
- If using frozen blueberries, thaw and drain them well before using.
- Drizzle with extra honey before serving for added sweetness.
