Description

A sweet and savory crispy blueberry grilled cheese made with juicy blueberries, creamy melted cheese, and golden buttery toasted bread.


Ingredients

  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, gently mash half of the blueberries and mix them with the honey.
  2. Spread cream cheese evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place mozzarella slices over the cream cheese on two slices of bread.
  4. Spoon the mashed blueberry mixture evenly over the cheese, then scatter the remaining whole blueberries on top.
  5. Top with the remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.
  6. Spread softened butter on the outside of each sandwich.
  7. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook sandwiches for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  8. Remove from skillet, let cool slightly, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Substitute brie or goat cheese for mozzarella for a richer flavor.
  • Cook over medium-low heat to avoid burning the bread before the cheese melts.
  • If using frozen blueberries, thaw and drain them well before using.
  • Drizzle with extra honey before serving for added sweetness.
