Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade)
- 1/4 cup water
- 10 corn tortillas
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, salsa, hot sauce
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- Drain excess grease if necessary, then add taco seasoning and 1/4 cup water. Stir and let simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.
- In a separate skillet, heat about 1/2 inch of oil over medium heat.
- Place 2 tablespoons of seasoned beef and a pinch of cheese onto one half of a tortilla. Fold it over gently to close.
- Carefully place the taco in hot oil and fry each side for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Repeat with remaining tacos.
- Remove tacos from oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm with your choice of toppings.
Notes
- Do not overfill the tacos to avoid spillage during frying.
- Use toothpicks to hold the tacos closed while frying if needed.
- Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
- Try using flour tortillas for a softer variation.
